Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene

Cesmec has developed through our Chemical Analysis Division a service line, with a vast experience of 20 years. This activity frames into Law Nº 16744 referred to “Standards about Labour Accidents and Professional Disease”.

Specifically, this service line is associated directly to chemical analysis of environmental and biological sampling, so information can be obtained in order to estimate real exposure to occupational risks, taking as reference maximum permissible values established in DS Nº 594 “ Basics Sanitary and Environmental Conditions in Workplaces”. Laboratory Testing

1. Metabolites and Biological Agents (Blood and Urine)

  • Metals (Cr, Hg, Pb, Se, Zn, Cu, Ni, Mn, Cd).
  • Solvents (Acetone, methanol, MEK, MIBK, others).
  • Metabolites (Hippuric acid, methylhippuric acid, trichloroacetic acid, phenylglioxilic acid, mandelic acid, phenol, hexanodione, others)
  • Non dietary and total arsenic (urine)
  • Other (creatine)

2. Labour Environment Sampling

  • Metals (filter sampling)
  • Solvents (sampling pipe / activated carbon)
  • Total volatile organic acids (sampling pipe / activated carbon)
  • Inorganic acids (sampling pipe / silica gel)
  • Specific analysis (mercury, phenol, formaldehyde, asbestos, free silica, others.)

Subject Sampling: go to Environment Division / Work Environment

Interlaboratory Rounds

In order to evaluate methodologies performance of used analysis in our labs, we have participated in Interlaboratory analysis rounds for more than ten years, whether national organism as well as foreign, such as:

  • Institute of Public Health of Chile, Health Occupational Laboratory
  • National Centre of Labour Conditions (INSHT) Barcelona Spain
  • Technical Board of Security and Hygiene in Work Santander Spain
