Personal Protection Equipment

On April 29th, 2000, Department of Health Nº 594 Decree on September 15th 1999 was published on the N 36651 Official Journal in which 1992 Nº 745 Decree of the same public repartition is derogated. On this Decree Health and Environmental Workplace Basic Conditions are establish and for Personal Protection Equipment subject is specifically defined as following.

Paragraph IV, Article 54: Workplace Personal Protection Equipment, both National and International, must fulfill Standards and Quality Requirements for those articles on that matter according to the Department of Health 1982 Nº 18 Decree.

On the other hand, Department of Health 1982 Nº 18 Decree, which establish Standards and Quality Requirements on Occupational Risks Personal Protection Equipment, was modify in part by the October 17th, 1994 Nº 2605 Decree, replacing its Nº 2 by the following:

“2nd People, Entities, Companies and Facilities which made, import, trade or use those devices, equipment or elements, must perform Quality Control Tests on properly authorized Institutions, Laboratories or Establishment as correspond.

At the moment Current National Regulation Equipment are:

  • Industrial Safety Helmet, according to NCh 461 Standard
  • Industrial Safety Glasses, according to NCh 1301 Standard
  • General use Safety Shoes, according to NCh 772/1Standard
  • Special Risks Safety Shoes –•Anti-static Shoes, According to NCh 2147/1 Standard.
  • Special Risks Safety Shoes – •Under 600 voltts Tension Isolation Shoes, according to NCh 2147/2 Standard.
  • Special Risks Safety Shoes –•Semi-conductor Shoes, according to NCh 2147/3 Standard
  • Safety Shoe – Rubber Shoes, according to NCh 1796 Standard.
  • Molded Rubber Shoes – General Industrial use Vinyl Polichloride Boots, with or without lining, according to NCh 2374 Standard.
  • Fall Risk Works Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Belts), according to NCh 1258/1 Standard.
  • Protective Clothing against Heat and Flame, according to NCh 1303 Standard.
  • Welders Clothing, according to NCh 1805 Standard.
  • Safety Gloves, according to NCh 1252 Standard.
  • Welders Screens, excluding Filter Plates, according to NCh 1562 Standard.
  • Hearing Protectors, according to NCh 1331/1 Standard
  • Protective Breathing Equipment, according to NCh 1284 Standard.
  • Authorized Certification System: System ISO CASCO 7 - ISO CASCO 5 Lot or System - Conformity Brand
