Division of Chemistry and Food

The objective of this Division is to provide the producers, exporter, traders, buyers, etc., an integral service for all the types of foods of human consumption and animal, including the requirements of inspection, sampling, analysis and certification .

SECTORS TO WHICH the DIVISION IS ORIENTED

Producers, traders and buyers in the area exports and internal market such as:
Processors Plants of Fishing Product , Plants of Food for Animals (Flour of Fish),
Processors Plants of Fruits and Vegetables, Pisicultures, Slaughter houses and Factories of cureds meat, Conserve and Frozen Industry, Milkmaids Plants, Agroindustry and others.

Nourishment Services such as: prepared foods, restaurants, hotels, casino of schools, companies, clinics and others.

Sanitary Control of facilities and products in supermarkets, restaurants, etc.

Industries, in general those related to industrial and liquid remainders.

TERRITORIAL DISTRIBUTION

Next to a select group of inspectors, in Chile the Division possesses offices and laboratories in: Iquique, Santiago, Talcahuano and Port Montt.

The operations of CESMEC also include Peru and Ecuador and Argentina, for the inspection, sampling, control of weight, shipment control of flour of fish , agriculture products, agro-industrial, cattle products and, in general, all type of nutritional products.

PROFESSIONAL TEAM

The Chemistry and Food Division possesses a multidisciplinary group of 100 professionals approximately, with vast experience, especially: chemists, biochemists, food engineers, agronomists, vets, food technologists, chemical analysts, among others.

QUALITY SYSTEM

The Division operates with a System of Quality insurance of agreement to the NCh-ISO 17025 Guide.

ANALYTICAL METHODS

  • An ample range of chemical analyses is made applying official methods recognized internationally, such as: AOAC, AOCS, IFOMA, FDA, etc.
  • Microbiological analyses through techniques such as: BAM, FDA, SERNAPESCA, etc.
  • Metallic plans, by means of Atomic Absorption.
  • Biogenicas amines, antirust and other nourishing additives, through HPLC.
  • Identification of fatty acids, vitamins and others by gaseous Chromatography.
  • Test of Erosion of molleja for fish flour evaluation.
