Division of Environment

This Division has a group of interdisciplinary professionals and vast experience in methodologies of measurement, samplings and analysis. Also it counts on laboratories and own equipment to take care of all type of environmental requirements. This way, through its human and technological capacity, this Division is in conditions for give an integral service and of technical excellence great.

MAIN LINES OF SERVICES OF THE DIVISION

DECLARATIONS AND STUDIES OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

These services are made according to stipulated in the Law N° 19,300 General Bases of Environment and Decree N°30 Regulation of Environmental Impact.

MONITORING OF QUALITY OF THE AIR

The services that this area delivers are related to the evaluation of the quality of the air insertions in:

  • Study of Impacto Ambiental (EIA), in which the base of the quality of the air is evaluated, before the beginning of the project.
  • Plan of Monitoring follow-up of the quality of the air during the tasks of assembly and construction of the project.
  • Managing of net of permanent monitoring as soon as the developed project enters operation, inside the plans of follow-up and control of the quality of air proposed in the EIA and approved by the respective authority (CONAMA or COREMAS).

The parameters are evaluated according to the norms of the Agency of Protection of Environment (EPA), of the United States.

The main parameters measured are:

  • Particulate Material: PM10, includes Chemical analysis
  • Gas: SO2, NOx, O3, CO, COV
  • Metereological Variables

The services of monitoring of quality of air that lends the Division, are recognized by the CONAMA.

EVALUATION OF WATER, LIQUIDS AND SOLID REMAINDERS

The services given by this area include sampling, evaluation and analysis of water fresh and of sea, liquid effluents and industrial solid remainders.

EVALUATION SERVICES AND ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISING

This area is oriented to the consulting services, as much to the authorities as to the companies that develop different projects with respect to the evaluation and revision from projects, like the following ones:

Environmental Advising (gaseous, liquid and solid Remainders)


  • Advising:

    • Reduction of the emissions, by means of technological changes.
    • Treatment of Remainders.
    • Transactions and procedures for fulfillment of norms and regulations.



SAMPLING AND EVALUATION FROM STATIONARY SOURCES

To evaluate the emissions from stationary sources, the Environment Division uses the following methodologies of measurement:

  • Método EPA 5, for isocinéticas measurements of Particulado Total Material (PTS).
  • Methods EPA 6 o EPA 8, for the measurement of Sulfuroso Anhydride emissions
  • (SO2)
  • Method EPA 7, for measurement of the Nitrogen Oxide emissions NOx)
  • Method EPA 3, for evaluation of the combustion (CO2, CO, O2).
  • Method EPA 8, for measurement of acid fog (H2SO4/SO3).
  • Method EPA 23, for measurement of Dioxinas (PCDD's) and Furanos (PCDF's).
  • Method EPA 18, for measurement of Volatile Organic compounds (COV)
  • Method EPA 16 A, for measurement of Reduced Total sulfides (TRS).
  • Method EPA 26, for measurement of Hydrochlorate Acid (HCl), and Chlorine (Cl2)

The services of measurement of emission of stationary sources possess the authorization of Health's Ministry.

QUALITY SYSTEM

The Division operates inside a system of securing of quality, according to the NCh-ISO 17025 guide.
