Decree 775 December 30th 1999

Metrology is simply the science of measuring. There is no activity in our lives in which metrology is not present. In fact, since we are bon our weight and height are registered.

For economy activities, measurement exactitude is indispensable, one kilo or one liter in Chile has to be the same kilo or liter in United States, Germany, China, or any other country.
These and others magnitudes are defined worldwide and are embraced in a system that uses the concept of “measurement traceability” (an interrupted comparison chain).

This system gives effective confidence in measurements regarding industrial processes and commerce. Even though measurement was being done correctly in Chile, there was still some failure, exporters, importers or any involved party in the commerce chain international or nationwide, could not support or object a measurement because a traceable universally system did not exist.

Today, the problem is solved.
